Fabulous Friday, XXXI

Happy August? While I am super pumped about football season, I can not believe how fast this year has gone.

We went to Mimi and Shark’s beach house last weekend. Had fun playing with cousins and nest sitting and cupcakes of course.

Tuesday’s turtle walk produced no nest in our zone but a beautiful sunrise and shrimp boat close by.

I made some double batches of white chicken enchiladas. I adapted a few recipes so I will post here one day. But my point today is a friendly reminder that you can shred chicken with your stand mixer or hand mixer. It took about three minutes to do six pounds. You can use a hand mixer for a lighter job or if you want a chunkier shred. The stand mixer can get it semi fine which I like. Of course it also might do a chunkier shred if I did not put six pounds it all at once.

Scarlett and Gold launched some cute football gear this week. I may or may not have ordered three shirts too many. I did order myself one semi neutral shirt for moments where I find myself behind enemy lines with humans that I love slightly more than football.

I documented our Iceland trip this week. Norway portion is coming soon, along with all of our pictures.

We hope our friends come visit us in South Carolina. We have two spare queen beds. But we probably will request Party Dip and Conecuh Cajun Sausage if you come from Alabama. Wal-Mart stocks plain Conecuh but not Ry’s favorite.

If you are on Instagram will you follow @huntingislandsc. I am managing it for the volunteer group Friends of Hunting Island, which is also the group that does the sea turtle conservation. Even if you are not local it will hopefully help us raise awareness and help our state park and turtles. Slowly learning about Instagram algorithms, any tips you know I am a willing learner.

Happy Weekend!

Happy Weekend, friends! I am excited that my favorite month is almost here. July 4th and my birthday.

We had a magical past weekend. We skipped town to spend a few days with Mickey and Minnie. Em and I were so brave, we rode Space Mountain. Poor thing cried and told me she was trying to meditate during it. Well I can not say that I will ride it again any time soon and at least those life skills I have been trying to teach her are some what sinking in. I will do a full recap soon.

Tuesday was a great day on the beach for our turtles. I was blessed enough to relocate these 122 little guys and girls to higher ground. The King Tide comes next week so we are trying hard to keep them safe. A King Tide is a season exceptionally high tide and sea turtles breath air through their egg shells so being washed over too many times can cause them to essentially drown.

The first sessions of Tate Camp have come to a close and I honestly have been lonely without her. I did bring home a friendly sore throat and congested sinuses from the magical Petri Dish. So I have been trying to take it somewhat easy.

I finished By Invitation Only. A good feel good book. Any recommendations for my next reads? We are going on a true vacation soon and I need some ideas, although honestly I usually get more reading done at home than on vacation.

My little flower garden is really taking off. I need to start planning Fall flowers soon.

In case you missed it. I am managing the Hunting Island/Friends of Hunting Island Instagram page so please go give us a follow.

New hair.

Since July 4th is coming up and my birthday, and Ryan is working the next forever and we are lacking friends here…I am planning on making my own kinda magic including this salad from What’s Gaby Cooking and our family’s secret hash recipe.

Happy weekend.

Happy Friday! We had a fun week. Em and I traveled back to BHM and then back to SC. We got to visit with family and friends.

Of course I stopped by Pepper Place.

I got a smore from Wayne and Cassie at the Birmingham Candy Co. It was amazing! Swing by the Pizitz for their Summer of Smores on Saturdays.

We had a jam packed week. Monday we did the Moonlight lighthouse climb. It was so cool for a different perspective. After only a few tears Em embraced it. On Thursday she climbed with no tears. Yay for being courageous. We also were able to go up into the light room.Tuesday we had turtle day. We were in some filmed footage for the Hunting Island Visitor Center renovations.

I am now managing the Friends of Hunting Island Instagram page. If you are on Instagram give us a follow. We got some fairy hair for summer.

Did some Disney craft projects. Mickey and Minnie’s Birthday celebration outfits was my inspiration. Its no secret that I love Allbirds. I think I might need these Tide Pool colored wool runners for our upcoming trip.

We played in tbe garden and sprinkler. As well as finally a pool trip that lasted longer than five minutes before the thunder came.

I was fortunate enough to spend most of Tuesday night on the beach watching turtles. We saw two mamas. This pictures were taken with just the moon as light.

Please remember to be respectful of sea turtles and never approach a nesting mama unless you are on a guided walk with professionals.I have been listening to the That Sounds Fun Podcast by Annie F Downs. She is one of my favorites and she is doing a EnnaeaSummer special. The Enneagram is also one of my favorite things. I definitely want to do a deep dive blog post on this soon. BUT for now, the Enneagram for those that dont know, is a personality typing system. There are nine numbers. Each with strengths and weaknesses. As with any thing use it for a resource and guide not a “gospel” so to say. Do not let it box you in or define you. But I personally have learned alot about myself. It has even helped me discover some things I can easily see as hard or negative are good and true of me.

ALL that to say if you know and love me and want to know more about my inner workings. Take a listen to the episode from That Sounds Fun on Enneagram six. For a brief but information overview listen to the first ten minutes or so. For a complete deep dive listen to the entire episode and the first ten minute overview of Five as well. I am a six wing five. Again deep dive coming soon.

Happy Weekend! Enjoy.

Happy Weekend!

Man this week flew by. And next week is another fun but busy one.

We spent last Saturday hanging at the beach. It rained a bit but that didnt spoil our mermaid time and beach naps.

Most of the week in Beaufort was a wet one.

I filled my bird feeder with food but obviously its really just a squirrel feeder.

Em and I tried to go swim twice but the thunder kept us from enjoying more than just a few minutes.

Eco-friendly glitter!!! In love. I must order some.

No turtles in our zone this week but we did play with hermit crabs, see a Blue Heron and dolphins.

My feels exactly on some days. 🤣😂🤣

Im trying to drink more water. What’s your go to trick?

Happy Weekend! Enjoy!

Happy Weekend!

We spent last weekend in Pensacola picking up this girl. We went to the pool and Wahooos game with friends. We also went to a few of Ryan’s old favorite haunts. He spent some time there for school when we dated. We also noticed the unbelievable tree damage along I10 from the hurricane. I can not imagine what the actual coast looks like.

We found nest #35 on Turtle Tuesday. This one needed to be relocated since it will not hatch before the July 3/4 King tide. Em was in love as usual. She then feel asleep on the way home.

A garden update. I have the first of some zinnias peeking out. The sunflowers are growing. I also have a huge squash plant that is taking over. I did not plant anything edible just flowers but this one must have been in the wrong pouch of seeds. I finally also got my dahlias in the ground and moved some zinnias around so they will not be too crowded.

Hydrangea propagation is a going well. I have six successfully still alive plants and I will count that as a win. I lost all of the strawberry shortcake hydrangeas but the others are thriving. It makes me so happy! Look at those roots! I did most in dirt but this one and a strawberry shortcake one in water.

I have been seeing the chiropractor and massage therapist to try to help me with some hip/glute pain. I was fussed at for wearing flat flip flops so I have some new Vionic flip flops and Birks on order. I might need some slippers to wear around the house too since barefooted is not good but hello I am the barefooted mermaid and hate wearing shoes inside.

Em and I have gone to Family Flow yoga class this week. Finding a place of love, non judgement and acceptance is hard to find when it comes to exercise places but luckily maybe we have!

It had been a wet end to the week here so Em and I have been organizing and watching movies.

A 14 year old baked enough cupcakes in a year to take his 7 family members to Disney! Wow!

How cute is this dad helping his daughter hula hoop?

Happy long weekend! We made it!

We are no longer home owners. Hallelujah! Celebrate!!! Whoo!! We are in no rush to own again.

Last weekend Em has her last day of school nineth birthday. First day of third grade versus last day.

Em and I had a popsicle Pepper Place breakfast. Of course we also had matching nails.

Teddy’s birthday and Tare’s med school graduation where Saturday. Phew. What a weekend. Filled with much celebration, fun and love.

We took the last load of BHM house stuff to Beaufort.

Ryan had a birthday. I usually am great at doing celebrations. But this year I just had to wrap his present in a blanket. It felt like an easy out but he got new living room speakers which were huge!

I battles with the racoons over the trash. We finally just put bungee cords on the trash cans.

Hunting Island saw the 17th nest of the season Tuesday and the sunrise was spectacular. Today nest #23 was found!

I am vising with family in Portland, Maine. It’s so peaceful and beautiful. I can’t wait to bring Ryan back to visit. So far we have taken a few boat rides. Seen eagles, loons, a beaver, a turtle, blue herons, and all sorts of birds.

Sesame Street now has a foster child character. Love this.

Beautycounter is constantly making improvements to the beauty industry and the brand. This week they announced a plan to help reduce, recycle packaging better.

Some college grads were surprised that the commencement speaker is going to pay off their student loans.

Enjoy the weekend!

Happy, happy weekend!

It’s this bug’s birthday today and ohhhh where has time gone?!? Sweet baby.

We finally live together again. Whoooo! It was a long road but worth it.

Ryan got me a funny card and some chocolate for Mother’s Day.

Fanny packs are back everywhere and I’m not sure how I feel about them. But so are small backpacks for purses and I’m here for that.

Vineyard Vines for Target launches tomorrow.

These Lowcountry sunsets are well nothing short of magic.

I went for a waterfront walk and picnic dinner one night and this dolphin was close enough for me to hear it breathe for about a minute. Gosh. Just pinch me.

Love this weekend’s Color Street nails. You can order from my friend Lauren or Keri.

Seaturtle.org reports 973 events total. Hunting Island has 9 nest! Grow babies grow!

If you were going to take a free guided tour of a lighthouse and it’s grounds how long would you be interested in listening? Let me know in the comments.

BHM friends I am selling our chalkboard and two planters. Let me know if you are interested.

Who is ready for the weekend? I get to head back to SC so I’m double excited.

This past week was packed full of fun. My friend and her babies came to visit before I moved even further from them.

We had Em’s slime and emoji birthday. I think she had a blast. What a gift this baby is.

I grabbed Chick-Fil-A after work on Monday because they gave a free sandwich to nurses.

I tried to root some more hydrangeas. Here is to hoping they work.

I got my hair done which is one of my favorite days.

How ADORABLE is Prince Harry’s daddy jacket.

Our sewer work was completed and this our yard destroyed. But some of the seemingly good news there wasn’t an additional sewer line repair needed for the rest of the line. Praises.

We have started to gather things for house closing soon and I can’t wait.

I attended a flower arranging class with Huckleberry Collective at Bloom Studio. Such beauty. Love this pink color scheme.

I got to squeeze some of my favorite blonde headed girls and their mama at Chick-Fil-A. They all made their Cupcake feel so loved. These see you laters are no joke.

I finished reading The High Tide Club and Glory Road this week. Both good books.

In a few weeks I am going to catch a few hours in Boston.  Any recommendations?

Enjoy your weekend.

Happy Weekend!

It was a week full of relaxing, playing and a little unpacking and cleaning for me.

Ryan and I watched the MCAS Air Show from our backyard. What a thrill to watch them practice and the actual air show. Their flight paths often had them flying directly overhead.

I made some raised garden beds, all by myself I might add. I planted some sunflowers, zinnias and dahlias.

Lowcountry sunsets are truly magic.

I finally am official. It took some convincing them DMV that I live here.

We saw Endgame this week. No spoilers but…It was so good.

Spartina 449 is having a 20% off sale this week.

Did you know Caboodles are back? I may have ordered a sweet little girl one for her birthday.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I am looking forward to visiting friends.

Prayers for this house to be signed, sealed and delivered soon. Lots of celebrating coming up on May. Prayers for all those celebrating. A few things that are heavy on my heart but too tender and personal and involving others but just keep those in your mind.

I started doing a weekly celebration at the beginning of the year but fell off. Want to get back too it. This week I’m celebrating the beginning of turtle nesting season and my first official walk as a turtle lady.

Happy Friday from the East coast.

I’ve enjoyed some relaxing time this week. Caught up on some shows, done some closet purging and house unpacking.

Literally, one of my childhood dreams came true this week as I attended turtle training and I’m officially a turtle lady. I can’t wait for a fun filled summer.

The Cook Once Eat All Week cookbook by Cassy Joy Garcia launched this week. Revolutionary. I highly recommend. You cut down cost by using all your ingredients. I got 12-14 servings for $50.

I’ve got my hydrangea cuttings hopefully taking root. Some of these are from the plant my mama gave me for my first Mother’s Day so I’m praying it works so I can take a little of that plant with me.

This week I went to Pure Salt Studios for some halotherapy. Mainly it was relaxing and I was in the studio alone so I tried to do some meditation and unplug for 45 mins.

I visited.Old Town Bluffton which is adorable, the Spartina Flagship store as well as the Farmer’s Market.

My shoulders became a little burned just walking around the Farmer’s Market for less than an hour. So I popped a Beautycounter mineral sunscreen stick into my purse to have on me at all times.

UAB plans to become a net zero waste campus and hospital. How amazing!

Happy Weekend!
