Fabulous Friday 2021, VI

Happy Friday!

Our rental dog Penny came and spent some time with us this week. One night Ryan took her home only to have her reappear on our back porch about five minutes later. So she hung out for a little longer.

A very interesting and much needed concept out of Denver, where trained mental health professionals help police officers with disruptive individuals. This provides the individuals with resources they need as well as freeing up police officers to serve more legitimate crime.

My ranunculus babies are growing! I’ll put them in the ground soon. Just while I’ve got them here might as well let them get bigger and stronger.

We had a picnic this week. Which we do on the regular since Covid. A Covid positive so yo say. It was cold but pretty.

I needed a dose of sunshine so I grabbed these beauties at Walmart while picking up groceries.

Don’t forget if you like to buy ebooks or physical books from Amazon, check out Bookshop instead. This article gives some background on the website.

Fabulous Friday 2021, IV & V

Happy end of January.

I was able to watch the inauguration. It was pretty incredible and I was much more emotional than I expected.

Last weekend we celebrated Ryan’s dad’s birthday. We had a campfire dinner with smores. I also made a delicious and smooth homemade hummus.

These ranunculus babies that I started about ten days ago really sprouted out! I tucked them into their bags to plant next week after I get my arches up and they get a little stronger.

I made homemade bread twice. One sourdough loaf and one yeast loaf. The sourdough is still lacking that sour bite that one gets in a crusty sourdough from the store. The yeast loaf was amazing. I told Ryan we needed to find a house with more land because I just wanted to stay home bake bread and grow my flower garden. My little flower heart is too big for my small two raised beds which is all we have room for, mostly due to neighbors/townhome rules not wanting anything past a certain line. Although there is a huge area out front that holds the septic tank. I think it would be a perfect flower garden.

I spilled tomato soup on our living room rug and thank goodness for small town living a coworker had a rug cleaner we borrowed. I used water, Dawn and a rag first then the carpet cleaner. You can’t tell. And now our entire rug has been cleaned because it the water was so gross from the area I did that I just cleaned the entire rug.

A good store out of vaccines stuck in a snow storm.

My Christmas present came. I can’t wait til we have some off time and some not cloudy nights.

Happy weekend! Enjoy!

Fabulous Friday 2021, III

Happy weekend. Not much of a weekend feels around here as it’s essentially the beginning of my work week.

The week started off with a delightful Bama win and a 18th National Championship Title.

I got these babies into some dirt yesterday. It’s definitely too late but here is to hoping. I should have done this at the beginning of December.

Who knew adulting was just trying to plan and cook dinner everyday for the rest of our lives. I feel like I’m constantly trying to add new stuff to our rotation. This week I tried fish taco bowls. They were yummy, an addition to the rotation.

I hurt my foot last weekend. Just a little tweak but I’ve been resting this week on my off days. I’ve binged season 2 of Virgin River and caught up on all but the latest episode of This is Us. Both so good. Any other feel good low stress or extremely well written shows out there?

Annie F Downs has a new book releasing February 2. I have already read it. It’s good. One of her favorite companies and mine did a collaboration the Annie Tote to celebrate. Follow Annie on Instagram for a discount.

Yesterday we got some sunshine but for the most part it’s been really overcast and today it’s been raining. I’m ready for some sunny days.

I’m planning to start some Magic Monday post on my Facebook and Instagram pages. Just a friendly reminder and inspiration of a way to cheaply and easily search for the magic in everyday life. Stay tuned for those.

Enjoy the weekend!

Fabulous Friday 2021, II

Happy, Happy Friday! Since New Years was last Friday I decided to make this technically first Friday blog post be labeled as the second. You follow? 😂

This week I got my second Covid vaccine. I feel fine maybe a little tired but I also could just be a little tired.

I got my hair done this week. That’s always the best.

I made New Years party hats for our 2021 babies.

Our Chick-fil-a is closed for renovations until the beginning of March. We had one last easy chicken parm meal. I use their chicken filets add sauce, cheese cook some noodles with alfredo sauce. So easy and delicious.

I tried some homemade roasted tomato basil soup this week. It was amazing if I do say so myself. We had it with grilled cheese and it was the perfect cooler night meals. I’m going to research how to grow and save my own tomatoes over the summer. I think it would have been even better with local tomatoes.

Sunset yoga.

I did my Bama nails for the game. Excited for this upcoming Monday but not ready for College football to be over.

This week has been scary and heavy and divisional. Please remember to treat real life humans with love and respect, even if you disagree politically or in some cases human rights-ly. Don’t forget it’s ok to turn off social media or the news or your phone. Take a break. Your mental health is important. Take care of yourself. Don’t forget to put on your own oxygen mask first when the plane is going down. You can not save anyone else if you don’t save yourself first.

Happy weekend. Don’t forget to make your own magic.

Riley Kate’s Lovies 2020

In 2017 we lost our baby girl at 13 weeks pregnant. Since then at Christmas we use the money we would have spent on her Christmas gifts on random and some not so random acts of love. We also do the same thing around her would maybe have been birthday.

This year I made 6 “Santa” big zip locks of snacks and essentials to leave downtown. I sent a few turtle sea creature masks to people we love, sent a happy mail, left some happies around town and the area.

I hope we were able to spread some love and light. Our girl definitely brought love and light into our life and we are here to ensure her light forever burns. Mommy and Daddy love you sweet baby. You are full of magic and sparkles.

Merry, merry. We hope you had a splendid cozy Christmas with your Covid safe pod.

Fabulous Friday 2020, LII

Well Fabulous Saturday or Boxing Day we should say. But its Christmas time who actually knows what day it is. Oh right me. Because I had to go back to work. But grateful I didn’t have to work Christmas day.

Christmas toes inspired by my Bug. She loves to do her toes and fingers every other color.

My gingerbread creations for the 40th annual Tilly Gingerbread party. This year it was virtual. I think every year we should add a virtual component for those that can’t make it.

This year we opened presents on some form of video chat with family on multiple occasions or multiple variations of family I guess. We NEVER get to celebrate with all of our family in person so I don’t know why we haven’t thought of this before but family I’m putting it on record no more Christmas presents without video communication or in person!!

Matching jammies with my brother and sissy and Embug although they failed to send me a picture…

I was able to get my first Covid vaccine earlier this week! So excited.

It was awesome to see Saturn & Jupiter. If you missed it, there is still time. They are visible for a few more nights although now they are spreading back apart.

Hope your week was merry & bright.

Happy weekend.

Holy 2020. Just a couple more weeks people. I hope you have already started to manifest all the good, joys and magic for 2021.

The presents are all on their way in their little brown box sleighs. The matching Christmas PJs are here and snuggly.

It’s been a hot minute or say you know two ish years since Ryan and I truly did a home improvement project. Although we are still in a rental we took about $120 and made our own little screened in porch. It didn’t turn out half bad. We attached the wood at the top and used some old anchor plate things we had to attach to the bottom and then dropped them down in between the porch floor so we wouldn’t be drilling into the floor, although the whole porch floor needs replacing. Not bad handy work. Also if you are in Beaufort and getting rid of a square patio table for cheap we want it.

Granny mailed me some of her sourdough starter. After I tried to kill it then revived it I made sourdough cinnamon rolls today. It’s so much work when it’s cold outside basically because it takes forever. I haven’t tasted them yet so we will see. In sourdough news I did create my own starter with flour and made a loaf of bread a week or so ago. It just tasted like bread and not sourdough bread, so something wasn’t right.

It’s been so wonderful to see the Covid vaccine being distributed and many of my nursing friends already receiving it.

The beach was chilly and beautiful this week. I had the entire southern end to myself for the entire time I was there over an hour.

What are you doing to savor this season?

Happy Weekend!

Fabulous Friday 2020, L+

Well, well. It’s been a hot minute. Friday has always seem to sneak up on me lately. Here is a little life update from the past week and month.

I’ve just been over here trying to live my best Christmas life despite the Covid.

I of course broke out the ocean tree early as in end of October because 2020 and it’s my life I can do what I want when it doesnt harm anyone else.

I found this cutie online and of course I needed her. Some people might call it me extra, but I just say extra magical and extra joyful.

We had a cookie exchange at work recently which provided a bit of normal in a not so normal year.

I’ve been a busy elf wrapping and baking and spreading Christmas cheer.

On a serious note we are doing #rileykateslovies again. Basically the first Christmas after our miscarriage I wanted a way to honor and remember our baby girl. We decided to take the money we would have spent on her gifts and use it to spread love an joy. Some are random happies left in the park or gas station, etc. Some are intentional happies sent to those that love and support us and some are intentionally gifted to those in need. I always welcome ideas or suggestions if you know someone in need. Also, I encourage you if you have an angel baby or any angel that you would have normally purchased a gift for take that money and pay if forward. I’ll be sharing all of our acts of love later this month.

Still always hunting for fossils.

We stayed tucked at home for Thanksgiving. We did have a Lowcountry style Turkey Trot and socially distanced outdoor dinner with our neighbors. We opted outside for Black Friday after a little local shopping.

Sprinkle, Sparkle and Cupcake came to visit.

Em turned into a grown teenager apparently.

“See” you next week. Hopefully. I’ll try my very best.

Happy Weekend!

Fabulous Friday 2020, XLIV

Happy end of October! We are almost done with 2020 and I declare 2021 to the best one we have had in awhile.

I worked all dayshifts this week, thus I feel amazing. I was at work one day feeling like I was ready to go home BUT then I remembered at least I’m working dayshift.

I did some tidying of my side of the bedroom. Mainly stuff had gotten out of control flung in the corner over the past few weeks. I was able to clean that up and organize my dresser drawers.

I made antipasto pizza for game day. A few weeks ago I used a recipe that called for crescent roll dough then ham, salami etc then crescent dough on the top. The bottom got to soggy but the pizza crust (pre baked) held up well.

Our neighbors dog came over to hang out and she watched some football with me.

Wrapped some pressies.

Ryan and I voted. If you are trying to vote early in SC don’t be intimidated by the line. We were in and out in an hour despite the line seeming very long.

Moss & Marsh has her 2020 ornaments which are beautiful and hand painted.

Happy Weekend!

Fabulous Friday 2020, XLI- XLIII

October flew by in a flash. One week left to crush some October goals.

I’ve got a few candy bags and treats ready for next Saturday in case we have any Trick or Treaters. I have some bouncy balls, pencils and skittles for allergy needs.

I put up my mermaid tree, basically because I was feeling lonely, sad, tired and generally depressed about some personal things within my fam. But putting this up helped so win.

I’ve started my Christmas wish list and shopping. I know the holidays are going to lo ok alot different this year for many people. What new traditions are you planning?

I made some apple cake but it seemed to be lacking something. I don’t know what. I’m excited about the football snacks I have planned tomorrow.

Penelope came to visit us so we called Em so they could visit. Em was so excited to see her.

Covid induced picnics still remain my favorite.

Caught this beautiful sunrise one morning at work.

Got my Bama nails ready. Happy Weekend!
