Fabulous Friday 2020, XXXII & XXXIII

Happy weekend lovies! It’s been a busy few weeks over here at Camp Tate.

Em Zoom graduated Elementary school in May and will start fifth grade in a few weeks. We headed to Hunting to take her graduation pics and yearly beach pics. So grown up.

We did a thing during still quarantine. 😂 Most people cut bangs we bought a boat. With our great love of international travel on pause for the foreseeable future we decided to give it a go.

Em had lots of play dates with the neighbors dog. She even had a spend the night party.

We did lots of swimming and playing mermaids.

Quite a few picnics.

Did a crystal growing kit from Walmart during the tropical storm. Would not recommend. 😂

Beautycounter just launched new gloss scented with ethically sources vanilla. If you don’t know about vanilla farming, such a common ingredient, you need to learn more! Also some exciting new things coming later this month.

My yoga studio got an upgrade during Covid break. It opens back up tomorrow. I can’t wait to get back!

Drapper James is having a sale.

Happy Weekend!

Happy weekend! Let’s get this 2020 August party started, the sooner we start the sooner it’s over right?!?

I hope 2020 turns out to be one of those times of deep pain, hard things but like the transformation is coming for the whole world? Let’s hope.

I can’t believe August is tomorrow in a way but then also how is it not Christmas or 2023 by now. This year feels forever. Hopefully I can get my few Intentional Living post up that I am behind on. They are sorta written living in my drafts and while not anyone reads this really I still like to document for my own knowledge/memory.

One of my besties made me this beautiful Christmas quilt. Her babies call me Cupcake, so of course it had to have cupcakes and also my favorite gingerbread. Christmas mugs too because she loves coffee (and a good mug) and I love hot chocolate and tea. I love the pink and gold snowflakes too.

On a Christmas note my sis was explaining to me how Dallas has full fledged Christmas in July. The local shops July 24-26 celebrate with Christmas themed items. I fully intend to bring this to Beaufort. The local doughnut shops make Christmas doughnuts. The pie place makes their special Christmas pies. The local shops are decorated for Christmas and play Christmas music.

Hunting Island was closed for a majority of July and we were then out of town for a bit. I can’t wait to get back out and the hurricane can just go away.

I harvested some basil for pesto. It’s my first true harvest and my last one was technically grown by the gardener extraodinare from work who gifted it to me.

I grabbed a few amateur NEOWISE shots before it disappeared.

I’m betting the hurricane has already cancelled the return of SpaceX Crew Dragon but I can’t wait to watch when it does.

Camp Tate started. Our goal. Stick to a better routine than last time. 😂

My little garden is finally in it’s prime. Our there some fall/winter things I should plant?

I’m so excited there might be some sort of football this fall. I can’t imagine getting teams hyped up to play with no fans but maybe they will still be the same or maybe the home team students can at least go to create a good environment for the team.

Enjoy your weekend! I know it seems like sure had lasted forever due to Covid and may continue to march on but savor those summer days.

Fabulous Friday 2020, XXVIII & XXIX

The weekend is here! It’s been busy with birthday celebrations over here.

My birthday gift from Ryan was two olive trees and a fig tree that all grow in pots. They came a few weeks ago and we already have olives.

Also have my little herb garden going.

Disney world is opening up this week for special previews etc. It makes me sad to be missing the magic. We decided to get a partial refund on our passes because we don’t feel like possibly exposing our patients or the other guest at Disney in this age of Covid. Mickey & Minnie I will miss you!

Birthday meals didn’t go quite as planned (one restaurant was closed on Tuesday and one wasn’t doing takeout.) It rained all day. Which none of those things are the end of the world I just like to get outside and out of the house. Finally there was a break in the rain so we ran to the waterfront for birthday dolphin show. He was so close.

We did however celebrate all week long with my shape cake (a family tradition), ice cream pie, fried shrimp, cheese boards and more dolphins. Image Alyssa a great birthday present that I wish I had made for myself.

We ventured to St Philips. It was a fun and educational trip although roasting hot.

This week brought work, disgruntled Instagram interactions, and general blah feelings.

I did feel down one day but asked in my new town of over a year if someone wanted to go walk that day. I had THREE responses. Thanks for making me feel loved and to myself for asking for help.

The first loggerhead babies hatched for the season. ❤️

Whole30 published this list if Black owned bookstores that carry Whole30 books. I thought it would be a great resource to save next time I am looking to purchase a book.

Happy weekend! Stay safe and mask up.

Happy July 4th Weekend!

Ry and I work all weekend and all the fireworks have been cancelled around town but next week is birthday week so looking forward to that.

Last weekend Ryan’s parents camped on Hunting Island. We visited the oyster ring on Edisto with them.

Still happily watching my little garden grow. It got some updates with some herb additions.

I got some organization done around the house this week. I also worked a dayshift, it was wonderful to feel like a normal human.

I spent a wonderful morning at the beach. I even caught a glimpse of a mama sliding back onto the water.

I have been wishing Chick-fil-A would bring back their watermelon mint lemonade since Summer of 17. I had the idea to see if adding watermelon syrup would give the same effect, it totally does. I even have some mint in my herb garden to add.

Finally got my hair done and trimmed since Covid started.

Working on a special birthday surprise.

Happy July 4th!

Happy Weekend!

Last week we closed out the first session if Camp Tate. We are both counting the days till session two but Tate sure does need some rest before then.

She found a new pal to play with from next door.

I also have been loving her little notes. I got one in my lunchbox at work also her breakfast delivery order cracked me up.

Em and Ry caught some waves together. This little mermaid loves to swim.

I’ve been watching my little garden grow and it brings me such joy! I have some flower buds too so not long until those are opening.

I cant believe July is next week and then someone will be 33. 😱

Ry’s parents came to camp at Hunting Island. We had some good but hot socially distanced adventures. Smores and hotdogs by the campfire.

Now to check some things off the to do list, like clean organized the pantry closet. And get my exercise routine back going.

Happy weekend!

Happy weekend!

Been spending my days with this beauty. The days are long but the years are short, for sure.

We have been doing alot of waterfront picnics. We captured this wonderful sunset and some strand feeding dolphins.

We celebrated my one year yoga anniversary with some outdoor socially distanced yoga.

We have had a bonfire and Frogmore Stew. So yummy. Smores are the best.

We socially distanced as best we could and visited some family. We attempted to be careful but had to see some of our lovies who we hadnt seen since October, September and July.

We have matching sun shirts from Moss and Marsh.

We made mini poptarts using pie crust. Pancake cereal is still on our list.

Cheese boards are a love language.

Sharks teeth galore! So much fun.

Happy Weekend, friends!

Camp Tate starts soon and I am trying to plan all the fun, safe at home activities. List in progress. I know this pandemic has put an end to many activities but do you have any fun summer stuff planned?

I’m missing Disney so much! We were supposed to be going next week but now I think with all the changes we will just request a refund on our remaining pass time and go post vaccine.

A baby beluga was born on Em’s birthday in ATL.

Also finally got Em’s room together.

My heart has been heavy with the death of George Floyd and so many others. This world is so broken and white privilege and supremacy rage on. I’ve been trying to formulate some good words- words that bring comfort, love, peace, recognition, honor, remembrance, awareness, rage, and words that battle ignorance. I don’t have the right words or enough words. But I am standing in outrage, willing to listen and learn and attempt to make the world a better place. I’m standing in love with all the mamas and families that fear for their baby’s life just because the color of their skin. I don’t have the best words but I have the heart and love and I am holding you tenderly. It’s not enough and it won’t change much but I hope it’s something and everyone’s won’t change much could add up to some pretty amazing things.

I’ve been off my sharks tooth game mainly a lack of taking the time to look. But I found a few today.

My birthday is still more than a month away but I can’t wait to make my cake thing I have dreamed up.

Hunting Island has 25 turtle nest now!

Happy Weekend!

We had all the birthdays this week. I ventured out and made Ryan a chocolate mousse cheesecake. He LOVES the one from Marietta Diner. I didn’t want to compete with that one but I gave it a try for something similar.

I was on call for work on Tuesday night and I cannot explain how glorious it was. Nightshift is like tragic for me. I’ve tried to embrace the suck and act the way you want to feel and all the things. It’s definitely better than it has been in the past but I still face a general sense of dread and depression almost like homesickness feel that I don’t experience doing the same job during the day.

I finally finished one of my raised beds. The other one needs some leveling work. Trying to decide how to best do that. It’s next to an old stump with roots so I am thinking digging down on the one side won’t be easy or work so maybe using some garden stones to raise up the other side. Work in progress.

I also added some wooden planters to the porch. They are so cute. I have tomatoes and peppers in them that my friend gave me.

I’m trying to get upstairs completely organized before Bug comes. It’s overwhelming and honestly boils down to we have too much stuff despite the great purge of 2019 before we moved states and then the clean out I did earlier this year before we moved recently. I did find the most perfect Lilly quilt at Pottery Barn. I wish it came in a king size. Mermaids on one side and turtles on the other.

I successfully gave Ry a much needed hair cut this week. All this hair and there is still some left on his head.

We tried the Chick-fil-A meal kit this week. It was yummy. Next time I might just use the chicken to make the chicken parm and get all the other ingredients from home.

Bear Bryant said call your mama and Saban says wear your mask.

Happy Weekend! This weekend brings the string of May birthdays in our family. Wish we could all celebrate as normal.

Disney posted the Grey Stuff recipe. I can’t wait to make it. Also, so much Disney withdrawl.

Ryan made me a homemade peanut butter cheesecake for Mother’s Day.

I’ve got my raised beds going. Need to figure out something to help level one of them.

I can’t believe it’s been ten years since I met this angel. She sure lights up our world. Speaking of long hair…⬇️ Crazy.

I got a pretty new hummingbird feeder. While I was changing them out a little one tried to drink out of the old one but he figured it out.

All the pretty flowers.

Happy Friday!

I hope May is treating you well. I feel as if it can only go up from here right?

It’s Nurses Day/week. Its been 11 years since this picture. But also it was like two years ago right? It feels like 11 years in a way but it also does not feel like 2009 was that long ago.

I spent some time out on HI. Found some treasures and some trash.

Hunting Island has a turtle nest. Im interested to see how this season is going to go.

Em requested a mermaid cookie cake for her birthday. I decided to try to do something a bit different than your round decorated cake. I tried a practice run and they turned out great. I will add some icing details for the actual birthday ones.

Full moon vibes. Do you do anything to connect more deeply with the universe and yourself? There are nice natural built in reminders to slow down and connect built into mother Earth’s cycles. I love to watch the water and moon cycles here. Which reminds me where does the water go when it is t high tide does it pull to and away from the poles or more east/west? The things I wonder about.

Well update good ole Google just taught me that is circumferential rather than a north/south or towards the poles pull. It bulges out closes to the moon and on the opposite side of the Earth. Pretty cool.

Happy weekend.
