Fabulous Friday 2019, LII

Happy last Friday of the decade. What?!? I am ready for all the goodness of the Roaring 20s.

I hope everyone had a lovely holiday season no matter what you celebrate.

We worked the beginning of the week but then we were able to get some time off together to visit family and friends in Atlanta.

We made shrimp on toast and fried shrimp for Christmas dinner for Ryan’s grandmother.

Christmas morning in the Lowcountry was beautiful. I woke up with the sun to work on the gingerbread cinnamon rolls.

I love feel good stories like this.

Even though my team won’t be playing I am excited for some football tomorrow. Unsure who to pull for LSU who beat us to go all the way or my fam jams Clemson or Jalen baby, wouldn’t that be a story for him.

What are you most excited for in 2020?

Happy weekend!

Happy Weekend!

I got my permanent crown placed on my broken tooth this week. Dang the broken tooth did not hurt but prepping and placing the crown and the time in between sure did.

I am LOVING this song from She Reads Truth Advent Spotify Playlist, Heaven Everywhere.

We spent some time in Disney with Em and my Mama. We celebrated Christmas, my Mama’s birthday and LIFE, because this trip came so close to not happening.

We saw Santa, visited Epcot/Hollywood Studios/Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, ate lots of snacks, finally got some homework done, watched our elves play and played until we were exhausted.

I can not believe Christmas is next week. Dang it seems so quick. I’m not going to lie the anticipator in me does not want Christmas to be here. I just love the days leading up, the music, the twinkle lights, the cozy blankets, Christmas movies, present picking out and wrapping, the candles, the Christmas cards and just the general season of warmth and anticipation.

A lovely and impactful Christmas gift by a local BHM business.

Em loved her doll bed. 💗

I am starting a wellness accountability group if you are local to Beaufort and want to join let me know!

I’ve had some days off in a row so I tried to really slow down and savor the season.

I started my Powersheets 2020 prep work. Here is to the Roaring 20s and now I wish I had a NYE party to attend.

Ryan and I ordered pizza and drove around to look.at Christmas lights. Such a fun tradition.

Happy Weekend!

Merry Christmas!

Happy almost Saturday! Oops, didn’t mean to stay up so late.

This past week we built Em an American Girl doll bed. We used these plans. It turned out better than I hoped! We did add an extra inch in length to the bed.

I made a Grinch and a Frozen version of my Team Spirit Cookie Dough Bites. I love how versatile, fun and happy different sprinkles can make them. I used blue and white chocolate chips I found at Walmart for the Frozen ones.

This adoption story is lovely.

This week my mama had a heart health scare/event. Please send continued prayers. Thank you to those that reached out. Most thankful to Teddy for dropping his life to be there and to communicate with the doctors and his crazy sisters. My preceptor at work for listening to me stress and agonize for days straight. And most importantly my tribe, the ones that have continued to check in, offer support and the wise, wise woman who reminded me I am not alone in this even though if feels like we are missing a few humans to help deal. We are not alone in this and even though we are all very, very tired we are rockstars who will buckle down and handle the shit storms of life with grace, love, Diet Coke, chocolate, thousands of transcontinental texts, warm baths, and each other.

And doctors of the world be warned we are a force with knowledge (at times too much knowledge it makes us crazier cause we know what is going on or could happen), questions and brains. Your friendly reminder that heart and veins and arteries on that table are attached to a body, a soul, a mama, a sister, a daughter, an aunt, a friend and if it was your family you would have a thousand questions as well. So don’t be an ass about us wanting the details and asking questions. No we aren’t the experts in your field but we do know you are human which makes you capable of mistakes and maybe probably not actually the expert in your field.

On a happier note. I got more fairy hair today and saw Frozen 2. Y’all Disney just stop please don’t go for Frozen 3, you knocked it out of the park with this one. Elsa and Anna slayed, Olaf dropped some wise truths and Christof was a great support to some strong force women. Bravo. If you haven’t seen it, highly recommend.

Working on getting those Christmas cards out so if you want one or your address has changed let me know!

Still gathering some things for the 25 days of #rileykateslovies as always no pressure but if you want to spread some love in her honor I have cards I can send.

Happy Weekend! Still hoping to savor some football tomorrow despite the outcome of my Tides season.

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend and College Football Rivalry Weekend!!!

Last Saturday we continued our shrimp on toast and sparkling cider tradition. It’s a quick simple delicious meal easy enough for even after work.

We collected our real Christmas tree on Tuesday night. Grown in the NC mountains of course. Fraser Fir, I keep waiting for the development of a Christmas tree farm to be woven into the Outlander series.

I arranged some flowers for Thanksgiving and man it was delightful. I literally don’t think I have done that except with a few yard zinnias since I moved.

Have you seen Frozen 2? No spoilers but is it good?

Thanksgiving morning I did some turkey yoga.

Sweet turtles!

I made homemade cranberry sauce, mac & cheese, and sweet potato casserole for Thanksgiving. We also had shrimp on toast appetizer and fried shrimp. Lowcountry Thanksgiving at it’s finest. We went to a friend’s house for lunch then had dinner at our house.

Adding these sweet potato bars to my try to make list.

My tree is up and decorated, even has a few presents under too.

I mean melt my heart, team carries injured quarterback on to field to take his final snap of his senior year.

Happy Friday!

Last week started with a bunch of work but followed with some fun. Ryan and I had off all this week as Ryan had some PTO he had to use it or lose it.

A few magical days, magical Christmas decorated days at that.

Ryan decided to make an addition to the ocean tree. I will be relocating Me Hanky the Christmas Poo to the side of the other tree once we get it…

I got some baby snuggles in this week and it was glorious. Perfect little chubby cheeks and the wonderful age where he is just making sounds and smiles.

We visited the manatees in Tampa. We saw quite a few sharks.

Saw this cutie driving to yoga. Such fun live here.

Beautycounter’s Black Friday event starts today! 15% off site wide (some exclusions apply) and free shipping over $50! Grab those gifts now. So many great ideas. Lip jellies, safer sun screen, eye shadow pallette. Don’t forget everything has a 60 day return policy even if you have used the product.

This is so sweet and forward thinking.

I can’t believe Thanksgiving is next week! What are your family traditions and favorite dishes? I am making mac and cheese, sweet potato casserole and homemade cranberry sauce. None of these per say is a family tradition passed on but a tradition based on things Ryan and I like. We will be skipping the turkey this year (I could leave it every year), in favor of shrimp!

We saw this sting Ray swimming in Tampa Bay while on a walk!

Happy weekend! (Back to work for us!)

Happy Weekend!

We are getting into the thick of college football which means it’s almost over. Tears.

Im in week three on my unit and trying to remember I felt scattered and like I was never going to learn it all when I started my other three nursing jobs over 8 years ago.

I may have full fledged decorated for Christmas including my ocean tree which will be hard not to leave up alllllll the time.

Ryan and I have been working opposite days so can’t wait for some adventures together soon.

I’ve been at the meal planning for two weeks and all ready I am ready to meal plan by throwing pizza slices in lunch containers. The fact that we need to eat is kind of annoying when one is trying to save time and money.

We did have shrimp on toast after spending some time on the beach last weekend. So simple but dang delicious.

It is already feeling cold here and apparently it will just get colder.

I got a phone upgrade and a new not cute case because I can’t seem to not drop it.

I did something terrifying and beautiful today. I’ll share one day.

Tom’s Christmas shoes are always adorable.

Thursday was the annual Turtle Talk and Tapas. A fun night and special thanks to the group that talked and included me since most of my team was elsewhere.

Enjoy the days!

Happy November 2019!

Hi friends! Just a goal update. Yall are my accountability to a degree. I got most things done in October. Most importantly I got and started my new job.

For November, I am focusing on finishing the year out strong by participating in the Hollis Co Last Ninety Days and savoring the season.

I start nightshift after the first of the year so I am trying to get the house in tip top shape by cleaning out the deep freeze, clothes, decluttering etc. As well as get a good meal planning system going. The past two weeks I have used the Cook Once, Eat All Week cookbook. The batch cooking seems to work well. I do want to work on developing some with our favorite meals. It is nice not to eat the same thing over and over, I often feel we do. But also it is nice to have a week of solid, good go tos.

October Celebrations:

  1. Cleaned out deep freeze.
  2. Read 4 books.
  3. No Diet Coke!!! I did it 30 days free. Definitely will have it as a treat but not everyday.
  4. Ordered our Italy trip book from Artifact Uprising.
  5. Got a job.
  6. Ordered my 2020 Powersheets.
  7. Refreshed the garden. Planted some Spring blooming bulbs, Hostas, added dirt.
  8. Organized the bathroom closet.
  9. Yoga or walk. I clocked 870 ish minutes of exercise this month. The job orientation got me off but aiming for more in November.

November Goals:

  1. Reduce sugar.
  2. Set up two savings.
  3. Clean out clothes.
  4. Daily gratitude.
  5. Movement.
  6. Read three books.
  7. Build Em’s doll bed.
  8. Savor the Season. Christmas Tree/ Christmas dishes/ Christmas Cards. Thanksgiving.
  9. Make dental appointment.
  10. Blog. This is writing therapy for me as well as a way to stay connected to family and friends.
  11. Meal plan.
  12. Connect with friends.

December will be here before we know it! Do not forget to slow down, do not over commit and really enjoy this time of year. Cuddle up with a cozy blanket and watch a movie. Connect with a friend.

Those childish things, do them sometimes. They get it right.

Happy November!

Last weekend I went to Savannah for a craft fair. Got a few Christmas gifts. Had lunch with a friend. Also unfortunately had to air up a flat tire and have it repaired.

I started my orientation on the floor this week. Phew, going from not working to three 12s in a row was rough. But glad to have a long stretch this weekend.

Mainly, I went to yoga, straightened the house and rested these past two days.

We had a few trick or treaters and it was fun. Next year I might have to make friends with someone who gets many trick or treaters and hang out.

The weather is smashingly beautiful today. Cool, bright and sunny. We took down our destroyed gazebo. Just when the weather was perfect.

One of my greatest adult truths. Unapologetically do you. Tell everyone else to stay in their lane. Of course being you cant harm other people. Putting up my new ocean Christmas tree harms no one so judge not. It is not perfect but not bad for $40.

We have enjoyed watching the snowbirds drive their big boats down the ICW.

Happy Weekend! Enjoy!

Happy weekend! Can you believe we are entering the holiday stretch.

Spent a few days last weekend celebrating this beautiful woman and her husband. Detroit was much prettier than I imagined.

Found this beauty in our yard. Such fun to find things we you move.

I started hospital orientation this week. I think I am going to love the small town, home town. I thought I was immediately going to orient on nightshift but blessings of blessings I get to orient on dayshift. Honestly my mental capacity/reserve was not ready for the way nights messes with my body/mind. So I feel better already. Time to get the house in tip top organized shape and get meal planning under control.

I am TRYING to get this meal plan thing under control. Any ideas? I have been to the grocery three times this week. Well once was for shots but I still bought stuff.

Pumpkins and flamingos sums up life here. The weather has been gorgeous this week.

Heartwarming and beautiful.

Enjoy your weekend!

Happy Weekend! It feels like Fall. It is so glorious.

I took a tour of the Southeast this past weekend. Almost to Mississippi then to North Carolina and back to SC. I got some quality time in my with mini BFF and cousins.

Em and I went to Pepper Place and spent the day together. Such a wonderful little bug. We made a graze board together. Favor? Will you pray for me and this sweet mini BFF? The demons have been raging this week making me feel so guilty about moving away from her. She is always in my heart and mind and we are connected but this week I have just been so worried that I have cause irreversible psychological damage by moving away. Those close to me know the whole story. Its not only mine so I wont elaborate but please just send some good vibes and prayers. Guilt, regret and sadness have been dominating my days lately.

I kept my cousins in CLT. We rode bikes, sang, went to Krispy Kreme and had a delightful time.

I planted 30 Daffodils, 5 Hostas, and 20 Ranunculus in the garden. Getting set for Spring. Working on collecting shells for my shell path. Could we move soon? Yes but I will enjoy it while we are here.

Trying to get the house in tip top shape before I start orientation next week. Also anxiety provoking.

Quite possibly I have a case of the wardrobe syndrome. That is what I refer to when…all the things are causing worry. New job, new people, new unit, new place, NIGHTSHIFT, Em, medical bills. All the things are thrown together rather than being able to compartmentalize them into their own drawer everything gets thrown into the wardrobe. Thus when you open it everything falls out on top of you. And the vicious cycle is in place.

I made the pizza rolls I posted about last week. Delicious again.

It is true. Although I haven’t had Diet Coke or any “Coke” except a ginger ale since October 1.

Cultivate What Matters launched the 2020 Powersheets this week. I ordered the teal one.

We spent some time at the beach yesterday. I actually got cold.

Happy Weekend! And Roll Tide.
