Fabulous Friday XX

It’s been a week or two really, phew.

Last Thursday night I visited the ER for severe abdominal pain. My gallbladder will be removed soon. I’m so bummed about having surgery and scars. I know I’m a nurse it’s ridiculous for me to feel this way but I do.

I ran to Pepper Place Saturday morning and grabbed all the goodies for the LSU game.

Sunday I visited one of my friends in North Alabama for her birthday. We had such a good time catching up and having dinner. Of course the time was too short.

We have a sweet new love in our life to snuggle. Thanks to all my friends for all the babies to love.

This week I also met with the group, Dialogue to discuss navigating grief during the holidays. I am so thankful for this group of women. We meet one Wednesday a month. If you are interested in joining us please do not hesitate to reach out.

I started to makeover this beauty and I can’t wait to see it finished.

I’m currently devouring Into the Wilderness such a good book.

I haven’t seen The Nutcracker or Outlander yet. I’m saving those for when I’m resting after surgery.

I also have started doing some Christmas shopping so if you are on my list and have something you want, let me know asap.

Happy Football Season! I am so excited. I mean technically it started last weekend but all the teams are finally playing now. What a crazy busy week it’s been.

We had our little bug last weekend. We went to Pepper Place. Ate lunch with my Granny at the Bright Star. Napped.

We played Ticket to Ride and I FINALLY won! We went to the park for the Back to School Bash, Em had fun jumping on the bouncies.

Sunday we celebrate Lucy’s first birthday.

I did work for a bit.

Ryan unexpectedly had a few days off and I was able to find coverage thanks to some wonderful co workers. So we had a mini escape and visit our aunt and uncle.

I made some caramel bars for football!

I had the best fried green tomatoes I have ever eaten at the Tin Shed.

I ordered some Rodin Mermaid body oil on a whim last week when I was grabbing some things from Goop. Well I am in love. The packaging was beautiful, the bottle is beautiful, the oil is beautiful and it smells just like you might imagine. It’s not cheap so I will savor the bottle for sure.

The American Academy of Pediatrics updated their car seat recommendations so read up if you have little ones.

Happy Weekend, friends! It’s finally Friday.  This week has been full of both parts work and fun. I am fully exhausted today so here is to a good, restful night of sleep before the probably no so restful weekend.

This past weekend I spent the morning at Pepperplace. We joined some friends for board games Saturday night. Ryan some how won the three games we played.

I took an aerial yoga class Sunday and Thursday night. Thursday was fun because I did some moves I had never done before like flipping into the hammock as well as some fancy leg and feet work to change positions. BUT I need some meds, a heating pad and Epsom salt bath now.

I was on call at work one day so I readied my toesies for football season. Crimson and white jersey boys I am ready for you. As well as grabbed a cheese plate dinner.

All the anniversary trip research has me craving the food already.

As everyone knows I am on the constant quest for self improvement as well as self discovery. 2017 broke me and it will never be worth it but I am thankful for this entire journey to being myself. This recent research comes as a surprise to no one. Why did I even take the test. Ha! I am excited to read further into how this effects my habit formations etc.

I finally found (I think) a podcast app for my new phone. I have been listening to this lately, A Little Salty Podcast.

I do not love the idea of a backpack labeling me as a tourist with just once glance, but who am I kidding luggage in general labels you. I think I found a new go to for abroad trips. Don’t get me wrong I have been a long time carry on only packer but carrying a rolling suitcase over cobblestones or upstairs is no fun. I can not wait ti give a full review of Tortuga backpacks once I use it on our next trip.

College Football starts tomorrow.

Well it’s the weekend again. Whoo! I worked last weekend so I’m more excited for this weekend.

A long work week made this week seem long and short all at the same time.

Ryan grilled some shrimp and chicken Monday night. We used the left overs for tacos and nachos the next night.

Adli find!!! What?!? I need to go back and look for more. The expiration date is far out so I need some more.

Insert all the work. I even got in an hour or two of OT.

We found a few things on a side of town we hardly ever go.

Chronic Tacos. Not great. I don’t think we would go again. There’s too many amazing places to eat to go mediocre.

Bubble Tea! I love bubble tea I’ll be back and next time add two kinds of bubbles unsure why I didn’t this time.

If you are traveling to a historical place on vacation, I can’t recommend the value of a tour guide enough. In Italy someone recommended to us a guide. I’m so glad we had one. We picked and chose were we wanted to go. He was invaluable for The Vatican. He had us weaving through crowds and helped point out the most important things. We have one booked for parts of Athens. We had the Viator website recommended to us. Here you can filter through personal guides by date, lauguages spoken and read about them. It is not as expensive as you would imagine or at least I thought. For example we have a guide in Athens for just us for six hours. Plan on going to the Acropolis and two main museums for around 180 euro. Not bad if you ask me and you really get to dive deep into the culture and history.

14 sleeps til COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!!!! Ahhh! The SEC Network has been on a TV in the lobby at work with football on repeat. I am so ready. Having lunch out today this was on and it made me so nervous (even though I know how it ends)/excited/ready!!!

I had heard how great The Greatest Showman was. I was afraid it would be a let down since the hype was so intense. It was not a let down. Holy smokes I think I’ll be buying this. I already downloaded the sound track and a ringtone.

A friend recommended the Netflix movie, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, also so good. It is also a book which is added to my to read list.

Happy weekend! Enjoy the rain!

What a week! I have been taking a much needed social media break, so I have lost to share. Also, I kept sweet Em instead of working this week so that gives more to share than on a full work week.

We spent part of last weekend in ATL. We grabbed some yummy food. That green sauce from Cylantros was heavenly. As well as the Frozen Cow ice cream.

MVIMG_20180806_114157.jpg

Em and I did all kinds of fun activities to close out summer. We started with a not so fun cavity dental appointment. But shortly after began some grand adventures. We had Kome for lunch. Her lunch request was yum yum sauce.

MVIMG_20180806_165125.jpg

We also made slime. Look I thought I was going to have to call my mommy friends to see what we were doing wrong just finally it turned out ok. If you come to my house do not eat the slime that is in the pantry. She only cane play with it on the tiles floor in the kitchen away from the furniture. So I figured the pantry was the best place to store it.

We took one good nap but then skipped naps in favor of getting back on a good school routine. Oh naps how I miss you. We also got our nails done for first day of school, ordered pizza, and watched some TV. Mainly on Wednesday I just let her have too much screen time and let her brain go mushy because school time is upon us.

We made chocolate chip cookies and played Uno and Ticket to Ride. Em caught on surprisingly well with some help.  Did some Pilates. Wednesday also called for school prep. Packed lunches, school supplies and such.

I was lucky enough to be able to take her to school Thursday. Oh the previous days. After I got some major good cleaning done. I had cleaned the closet out in one of the guest rooms earlier last year but it had already accumulated crap so I did it again. Em’s room needs major work but she isn’t ready to get rid of some of the toys she is really too big for. She still plays with them though.

I have been researching for our upcoming trip. I am loving the Packmith blog. So many great packing tips.

I ordered some Birkenstocks and basically all I can say is what goes around comes around…again.

Beautycounter is having a sale which never happens, SOOO stock up today. You can shop my link here. Message me with any questions.

Fabulous Friday, XIII

Well this month has flown by. In a rush of celebrations, work and beaches.

Loved partying up 31 with these loves.

We spent sometime at my favorite place on earth. This mermaid’s heart belongs here. The time wasn’t quite long or peaceful enough. I already want to go back.

New hairs! I still kept my purple and teal but went back darker with a splash of blonde. Loving it. But wish my hair would grow longer. Of course it is as long as it has ever been.

I have been playing with Beautycounter’s new blush, highlighters, bronzers and eye shadows. It’s so fun to play with different colors. If you want to come try them out let me know.

I made this new recipe from Just Jessie B. It was delightful and made great breakfast leftovers.

Hung out with this girlie this week. I was taking a bath and opened the door to find her waiting here on the other side. So sweet and yet so smothering. I know I’ll miss these days.

Watching my little lemon tree grow. Fingers crossed I don’t kill it!

Happy Weekend Friends! I hope you enjoy. I can’t believe how long this week even today has been. I hope your weekend is filled with the things Summer dreams are made of. Planning some market time and relaxation around here. Oh yeah, some cleaning and stalking the mail for my Nordie sale packages.

Happy Friday! I am extra excited about this Friday because we are actually off work and it is my birthday weekend.

Em and I spent the last week-ish at the beach. Then it was right back to work for me.

img_3605

Ryan and I worked July 4th but celebrated with Tare and Teddy after work. We ate and watched thunder on the mountain. Thanks for making us dinner!

You all know how I feel about charcuterie and cheese boards. What’s Gaby Cooking has a few beautiful ones including this summer board.

My birthday has me thinking all things cute party. I love this mermaid tail party hat.

Mini flamingo pinata. How cute!

It’s no secret I love Hint waters. I hear the smash ups might be coming back.

Fabulous Friday, XI

Phew what a week! And I can’t even claim it is almost over since I work the weekend.

Basically no life updates just been adding money to the bank account. Well I’ve actually ordered a few swim suits for the upcoming beach time.

My flowers are growing and the fireflies are out in full force. I love them.

I did acquire some mermaid hair this week. I love it!

I am on Whole30 Day 19 today! I am researching some recipes to try to make this weekend.

I am going to try this Power Bowl. I have never roasted kale. Side note unsure if I have ever eaten kale. I just do not know what to do with it besides add it to a smoothie.

These chicken veggie poppers caught my eye because they looked like sausage balls. Ha! but they seem like they might freeze and reheat well.

These potato toast are also at the top off my weekend prep list.

Fabulous Friday, X

It’s finally Friday! Although we both work some of the weekend so it doesn’t much feel like a Friday.

Last weekend, I spent a lovely morning at Pepper Place before along afternoon nap thanks to Whole30 exhaustion. We had a lovely dinner with friends visiting from Tuscaloosa. Ryan grilled chicken and all the veggies.

Sunday we had Em’s birthday party. I managed to decorate the cake and attend the party with no icing taste.

Two owls were hanging around our yard last weekend. This picture is us standing on our porch taking photos.

Monday and Tuesday were full of work.

Wednesday I had a severe attitude problem and was not in a good mind space but thanks to a convo with a friend then some good baby snuggles and a meeting with my Whole30 coach I was on the up and up.

Thursday I visited Em and my family down in Prattville. That girl brings the sunshine to my days. I  managed a Whole30 meal out again. Mexican fajita salad no cheese, onions or shell. Add avocado and salsa. Major thinks to the waiter who brought me basically an entire avocado to put on my salad.

Happy June 1st! I can not believe we are moving into our sixth month of 2018. Check back tomorrow for my goals update post. We are about 100 days from our fifth year anniversary. Time flies when you are having fun.

img_2665

This past weekend Ryan and I spent some relaxing time in Fort Payne and Chattanooga. We explored Rock City and some bakeries around Chattanooga. We visited the waterfalls surrounding Fort Payne. With all the rain Birmingham had lately, I was disappointed with the water flow of both. We ate at many of our favorites. We stayed with friends and had a picnic on Sunday before we headed out of town.

img_2684

Monday I started Whole30! I also am doing Annie F Downs #100daystobravesummer. It began 5/28 and ends 9/24 which is how I know we are about 100 days out from our anniversary. I am hoping to use this as motivation and a reminder to stay on top of my game until then.

img_2764

I was excited to get started with Whole30. I also am utilizing a Whole30 coach this time. I will update on how that goes. We met Tuesday to walk through the grocery store together.

img_2746

Wednesday I attended The Brunch Series Tour with Danika Brysha. OMGEEEE if you do not follow her you should. It was a fabulous day learning so much with some beautiful, inspiring ladies. Life changing literally, so if the tour is coming to a city near you then go.

img_2761

Thursday Ryan and I had a day off. We just hung out at home. Tried to get a few groceries but I felt like it was the day of failure. Nothing went quite right. Publix didn’t have some Whole30 items I was looking for and the Whole Foods which we don’t frequent often because you know the major competition to Amazon puts the money in our bank account. I will say it was a frustrating trip as all the bacon and ketchup/dressing seemed to be messed up. Like the cooler was empty. Luckily we found some bacon to top my loaded burger salad.

Happy Friday, Lovies!
